I'm "done"... this is as far as I got and now everytime I look at it I feel ashamed of myself. Ignore the head for now... it got squished in the box and look derpier than ever.
This is version one of trying to make Sapphire, my plush barn swallow, into a suit. It came in stages... you can see the head progress already in my scraps but i guess I just forgot to upload another update after I tossed the torso together.
The body is a sweat wicking shirt (that was too big for me) holding the wings and torso together. The wings are the full length of my arm plus some wiggle room for someone taller in the future. The wings are three colors, as you can see... medium blue, light blue, and the inside is rocketship patterns. To fluff out the wings and keep them straight but not pointy, they have thin soft foam sheets. Oh and it's mostly glued together... because i was always planning on trying to handsew the entire thing, but after doing just the top seams of the wings I was THROUGH with wrestling all that material and just tacked the rest down with glue so it would at least STOP SHIFTING! Pins were out of the question long term, with five cats and a dog and needing to pack the projects up every night into boxes.
It was a great idea, but she just proves that I can't make these things happen right. The images are there in my brain, where nobody else can see them, and it infuriates me that I can't get them out into the real world. And being trapped in my head, the people i'd ask for help couldnt see what I wanted and couldnt help me the ways I needed.
Once I touch up a few things and can stop feeling disgust, i can find her a new home. But at least the general shape and IDEA is out of my head, so whoever makes her next will have a better idea of what I want.
