"All right now," I thought to myself with more than a little trepidation. "This is a completely untested invention, and I am going to be the one to test it. I really hope nothing goes wrong." I strapped my duplicate down, fine-tuned the settings, and attached the output memory helmet to him... me... thinking about this is starting to get confusing. Anyway... I then put the input helmet onto my own head and got myself firmly attached to the slab on the opposite side of the machine, within reach of the activation switch. "Well, here we go," I muttered, crossing my fingers, and I threw the switch. All of a sudden I felt what seemed like one thousand volts flowing through me. Looking over at my duplicate, I figured the same thing, as his fur was frizzed out in every direction. That is the last thing I remember before blacking out...
The next thing I knew, woke up. I finally knew who I was. I was that guy in the lab coat still unconscious on the other slab! Or, at least, a very convincing copy, anyway. Getting disconnected from my slab and helmet, I went over and helped the other (original) me up. The first thing he said was "Who are you?" in a groggy sort of voice. "I'm you, or at least a copy of you," I replied. That got him up fast, as his eyes widened in sudden recognition. The next thing he said was, in a shout, "IT WORKS!"
"IT WORKS!" I shouted in exuberance. For the next half-hour, I grilled my copy on everything I knew: my family, my friends, and my own thoughts, amongst other things. He passed with flying colors, as I had hoped he would. After that, I removed the floppy disks containing another copy of my memories and personality, so as not to allow them to be skewed by an overlong stay in the machine itself. After that, we set up a shift schedule for who would do what when. We also set aside a bit of time for the both of us to be in roughly the same place at the same time. Let's just say, we made life at home a wee bit more "interesting" for everyone involved...
*Note: The memory uploader/downloader also captures a copy of the user's personality, giving the machine a function as a personality rewriter. WARNING: Only use this if 100% COMPLETELY necessary. Otherwise, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, FOLKS!
Yeah, once again, I decided to add a bit of a narrative to match the picture. I thought it would be interesting to have more of a story behind the art, as it is a continuation from http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13138157 .
