America actually does have a native crocodile, Crocodylus acutus, which is found mainly in the neotropics. I felt this silver crocodilian pendant I found looked more like a crocodile than an alligator with it's narrow snout. Adding that to the somewhat southwestern style of this necklace that is what inspired the name.
The Sleeping Beauty turquoise is stabilized but otherwise untreated. In this piece there is also sterling silver, jet, red spiny oyster shell and one piece of varascite.
