SAI practise - Rarity = Best Pony
Doodle in SAI, which I just installed a trial version of on my laptop. It works better than Krita, which is both :C and C: I really wanted to use Krita, but it's laggy as peanutbutter on my laptop :V
Doodled a derpy Rarity cuz I just got all caught up with FiM episodes and Rarity = Best Pony.

Ah yeah, some graphics drivers can be a problem we've found unfortunately, they don't always get updated ><
We have a little task at the moment to try and improve stability with AMD-A series CPUs with built-in graphics (if your laptop is an HP Pavillion dv# then it might be affected, if so, I can let you know if we find a fix)
SAI is a good program, I did enjoy how lightweight it was, though I'll admit Krita's brushes tempted me to play a lot more (even if I wasn't a developer) ;)

Ah, thanks C: I was really hyped about Krita, especially after Sycra on youtube was raving about it, so I was pretty bummed that it wouldn't work properly. My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad E525, I personally don't have much experience with HP machines (or any computers in particular *applies noobhat*). Letting my more computer-savvy friend poke my AMD drivers with a stick to see if that improves things. (AMD Radeon HD 6480G).
Even though it's all basically chinese to me, techy stuff -is- pretty interesting XD I might try some classes or something sometime to improve my savviness |D

Hope the drivers might resolve things - would be a nice find if they do. The only other thing I can think of at this stage is seeing whether you can change how much memory is allocated to the graphics card, and to increase it :) (usually this is via the BIOS on startup, your computer savvy friend might be able to help there)
Failing that, we do have a bug report for this, so I'll try to let you know when it looks like we have a solution :)

I'll need to have another look at the brushes - I've not seen that issue, but have seen an annoying issue with a custom brush where it "lagged" behind the stroke...though I think it's related to some setting in the brush which has an invisible border around it.
When you say "hang for a bit" do you mean the whole program feels like it freezes? I wonder if it might be a side-effect of the brush-type? (it might need a minimum number of points to apply before it can start drawing the stroke?) Do you remebmer which brush were you using? I can investigate and possibly raise a bug report :)

The brush is the 'pen' brush "Basic_tip_default", at varying sizes. About 30.0 to 3.76.
The canvas isn't huge either, is 800x1000 pixels, with a resolution of 100.00 ppi :/
When I attempt to draw, the lines lag and turn out very wonky. It's really a bummer to me, I was really excited about getting to use such a nice program, extrrremely affordable and legal o A o
