Thanks! I took an old pair of shoes that had taken up residence under my bed, hot glued a lot of foam in the shape of the hooves, covered the hoof-shapes with fake leather, varnished the fake leather, put on foam in the shape of the foot shape (the part covered with shorter fur), and then I glued fur over the lot. I used longer fur on the part nearest the hoof and the part underneath the foot itself, to make it look like hair instead of a human foot.

did this method stand up to a lot of wear, did you get any cracks in the black fake lather?

I had absolutely no trouble with the fake leather. It remained perfectly flexible. It did get rather dusty, but it wiped right off.
