step 3- Lets start coloring! Before we worry about his schoolgirl uniform and making highlights and shadows, well do the base colors. I made a new layer and named it "hair". Make sure the later is set to multiply, and also rename your original layer "lineart" and move the palette layer below that. Neither of those two layers are to have multiply on, and also make sure they remain locked so we don't accidentally color on either of them. Multiply is very useful, as it always makes sure the lineart shows through. I never use the magic lasso when coloring in this style, and instead prefer the polygonal lasso tool. It lets me have a jagged sort of stylized coloring style. Also make sure that your brush is set to 100% opacity and hard edged (although you could just as easily use the paint bucket for this.) This layer is gonna be the hair, the two other yellow things (two spots on the beads and pride bracelet). Note-the hair I did is actually a lighter color than the yellow on the other things, I just prefer to save layers.
