Named after German naturalist Georg Wilhelm Steller, the Steller’s Sea Eagle is the heaviest eagle in the world, weighing in at 11 to 20 pounds. As per its name, it hunts water birds and fish, living on the northeastern coasts of Asia. Classified as a National Treasure in Japan, this bird is protected as it is threatened by pollution and over-fishing, among other environmental threats.
