Yup the Liger's gone and made a new alien species and a bit of an interesting one at that if you'll indulge a lil read. ^^
Jason sighed as he walked out onto the second floor deck. He needed some air. The poor boy seemed to be the center of attention with the family reunion taking place inside the house. Everyone coming up and asking this or that. All of them in essence asking the same thing. "Your remember me right?" Only a few of them seemed familiar at all to him. But he didn't really remember any of them. They'd tell him it was Ok and not to worry about it but Jason saw the disappointment on their faces. Sometimes Vrell retained some of their human memories. Jason wasn't that lucky. He didn't even remember his mom or his dad. No memories of his life when he was still human. He'd listened a bit to people talking about it. It happened now and again to people ever since that strange ship crashed to earth. People out of the blue would find themselves over the course of a day or so transforming into an alien. Afterwards they had no memory of their previous life. Personality remained, engrained skills like language remained, but all else fell away replaced by just a bit of basic information. Every Vrell innately knew the spoken and written Vrell language. They knew the Vrell homeworld was called Vellain and that it had two moons. Every once in a while something would remind them of something else that they apparently just innately knew about what they were. Jason had only been Vrell for a few months. He was still getting used to it. The transformation had been rough. He had to stay in the hospital for days afterwards. His altered body racked trying to fight off germs that suddenly seemed alien and any remaining traces of human tissue. Jason was lucky though. He survived it even if it did cause some muscle damage here and there. It also helped a bit with his parents. They were there through the worst of it. He knew how much they cared and even if he couldn't remember them really. They were a great comfort none the less. They were helping him immensely ad he rediscovered who he was. Discovering that he had a special someone, that said someone was a boy too and that it wasn't really the norm. Still it felt right. Discovering to his surprise as time went on. He didn't really mind having to wear the diapers. Of course the old journal on his laptop helped him as well. Still it felt a bit like reading about someone else's life. And that was a question in the back of his mind.
"Am I really still Jason?" He wondered aloud as his eyes drifted down to his four fingered hand.
"Your still Jason." His dad said with a warm smile walking out onto the deck.
"Am I really? I mean I feel like maybe I'm not. Like I'm just some sort of imposter." Jason asked as his eyes rose up to his father's
"You still have his feelings. You act just the same." His father said putting an arm around the troubled teen.
"How come some of the others inside say I'm so different now?" Jason asked resting his head on his father's chest still just a bit short for his age.
"Well they didn't quite know you as well before. See before when you grew up in this world and had all your memories you knew what might be best left unsaid. That maybe you shouldn't say this to that person even if it's what you think. It's a lil mask that most of us wear. What we want the world to see. " His father began as they sat on a bench. "You see to your mother and me we know your still Jason. Because around others we love we let the mask come off an we're not afraid to let them see us as we are. But some of the relatives here didn't know you that well. Without those memories it's like you've lost your mask."
"Is that a good thing?" Jason asked a bit confused.
"I think it is. While it's natural that we wear our mask it's nice when we don't have to. And here you have the chance to just let others see you. As you are. In time you might make a new mask. But it's still the same person behind it now as it was before." His father told him. "Mask or no. Your still my boy. No matter what you might look like now I still see my little boy in those eyes. That smile you get when you discover something you think is the most interesting thing in the world. And no matter what I'll always be here."
"T-thanks dad." Jason sniffed rubbing his eyes a bit and wrapped his arms around his dad and felt his father's strong arms gently wrap around him. No matter his doubts his father knew and Jason was content to just sit there and take comfort in his father's arms for time. It was all he needed for his mind to rest. I'm still Jason it finally concluded.
Well hope you guys liked the pic and the lil story. ^^
