Here's a challenge from
for me to attempt a mockingbird and a bear enjoying a cup of tea together. The bird was difficult to say the least and so was the bear. I wanted to give the bear a bit more of a chub factor and have the bird a little more lean. :3 I know the mocking bird is floating, but this is after Corel smashed my line work with my sketch >.<;;
How'd I do? :3
I know I'm not perfect in any sense of the word, but I'm attempting for improvement. :)
Also: Corel!
I'm learning how to use this tool before I will be doing any free art from it. I need to learn how to consistently do lineart and how to color ie.: which brushes to use for what things.
Want a free art? Check out my journal or comment right here! I'll start sketching right off! I'm looking for practice, so I want to give free art! :D
Art is Mine. ;P

Looking good. Though the bear could use a bit of work, with your style I feel like there would be hardly a difference between feral bears and anthro bears. The hind legs could be rounded off and chubbied up, the arms could use some fattening up as well. As for the face, the muzzle (or the lips really) have more of a canine feel than bear. http://grizzlybearblog.files.wordpr....._bear_face.jpg The lips tend to be a bit more loose and hanging. Most bears don't have those mutton chops, it's a general fluffiness all around the head, much like a lion's mane. Also, bears are bottom-heavy creatures, so don't be afraid to plump up the butt. http://eartheasy.com/blog/wp-conten....._barrel_02.jpg
The bird is nice. Though his arms should be higher up, and the side of his face seems slightly warped so that we can see more, it's done well enough and I like the feet. If you want him to look thin, don't give the muscles so much definition and make them thinner in general. The hands for both you should work on, but that comes with practice. . . The bear is kneeling on the bird's foot. XD Anyways! The belly button seems unnecessary since the bear is covered in fluff. The faces are very animated though and that's great. Keep it up, dear.

Thank you! :3 I do need to work on my bears more. I think I might do a full sketch page on just bears tonight... I referenced feral bears to get the ball rolling on that guy and I DO need to humanize him more. I attempted to give him less muscle definition, hoping that it would have him appear as more chubby, but I need to reference more, well, chubby people. :I More bubble-butt! I like it! :D
I attempted the three quarter view, but as I look back at it, you're completely right. He does need to have a better "skinny look" to him. He just kind of looks like a little body builder. >_<;; Indeed... Hands are NOT my forte, but I feel like they're getting better at least. I saw after I had started to line the sketch and thought about how I can avoid that next time. I though that I should have made him, instead of letting his foot stretch so far out, I'd have had it retracted a tad bit more and that would fix the problem.
Gah! His belly button was a marker for a mid point for me! I forgot to erase it and up the fluff there. :( slippin' up...
