This is a Revell P-47D I'm working on and its nearing completion.
This kit is painted to represent a advanced trainer from around late 1943 to train pilots to fly the Thunderbolt. The cowling is red with a white scallop design on it. The camouflage is deep green and olive drab and the markings will be the post 1943 USAAF "star and bar".
The Republic P-47 was one of the heaviest single engine fighters wielded by the USAAF during WWII on both the European and Pacific theaters. Powered by a 2000 HP Pratt and Whitney R-2800, the Thunderbolt was rugged and almost indestructible in the ground attack role. Early models were "razorbacks" with the raised rear fuselage and heavily braced canopy until the D-25 variant introduced a cut down fuselage and bubble canopy that became standard until Thunderbolt production ended in October 1945 with the last P-47N-25.
