Today's friday general-audience pic : an attemp at drawing an evolution of the T-Rex. More massive jaws with specialized teeth, total binocular vision, reinforced upper skull, more compact body, almost no more arms, more muscled legs, bigger feet, no more spur (I forgot it in fact ^^''' )... Well, I failed to render the ideas I had in mind but the result is not so bad anyway so here you are.
Also, "corrected" because my original version had a head 25% smaller and it was awfull ; I corrected it under Photoshop and I defy you to track down the seams in the neck area !!! ;D

The TV series Primeval could use someone like you! :3
(If you haven't seen it, its about a group of scientists who discover that rifts in time are opening all over the world to various times in pre-history. And... in the very last episode of the first series, the future. Fair enough the creature that comes through isn't an evolved T-Rex, but it still seems like the kind of thing you'd be awesome at! ^^)

"More massive jaws with specialized teeth"
Okay... there may be a Problem... the evolution of birds never had any very specialized teeth in them... just a reduction.
the heterodont jaw was not develop by reptiles. (and Birds)
So don't worry, when you had failed on this aspect... it is better that way.

I beg to differ : venimous snakes DO own specialized teeth to inoculate their venom :) Also, therapsida, though not directly related to dinosaurs, got also such teeth and even more visibly, and more and more during their evolution, not to mention the herbivorous dinosaurs whose teeth did specialize to an incredible range !! When I was talking about "specialized teeth" here, it was just small curved ones at the front to grip and bif, almost straight ones at the back to cut and crush. Nothing too delirious to imagine for a reptile, nothing compared to mammal ones :)
BTW, I didn't want to propose a really scientific specimen, just my own thoughts about it - just like I imagined once dragons having evolved from big theropods...

Hmm... my bad. I meant that there are no "different" teeth in the overall form. Every teeth have the same basic shape in an reptiles jaw.
You don't find molars or something like that together with canines.
I just thought, that you wanted to draw an jaw with different types of teeth in them... like mammals.
So-> Global misunderstood.

Magic of Photoshop !!! ^^ ^^
Yes, of course the scan makes a VERY cloudy sheet, every time I have to modify the balance of contrasts and luminosity to make it look better - not to mention a long workcorrecting all the dark spots, and the edges of the paper that look always "dirty". The most difficult is to find the right balance to have the maximum cloud effect removed, without having the tiniest lines share the same fate. Here for example, as in all my pics where I decided to keep rough lines, I couldn't set contrasts as much as needed, and thus you can indeed see if you look closely that there still are many "cloud effects" everywhere - I just wasn't brave enough to try removing those areas with the eraser tool.

I got quite a good result by applying two adjustments to the picture you have uploaded here... Look: http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/.....62/testny3.jpg
I used Hue/Saturation correction and then Brightness/Contrast using Lab colorspace. Lab is the best one for image correction purposes.

Maybe... Maybe not, who knows ? Squales for example are far older than dinosaurs, are still alive now but as far as I know, they do not have specialized teeth, even if some developped some interesting features... Looks like carnivorous species don't need really specialized teeth contrary to herbivorous and above all, of course, omnivorous.
like the song says: "what you waiting [...] what you waiting for?" :D I guess you show us only very little part of your creations... explain yourself!!! David my dear you should show us more not only furries I'm sure everybody would be glad to see some other pictures :) at lest I would hehe
There are two major problems.
1/ I show almost all my furry works, but as you guessed, most of my works, the oldest ones weren't at all. And if I very occasionnally post non-funrr artwork here, it would annoy me to upload all them because this site is not made for that. And I haven't have any other now, and I REALLY don't want to post anywhere else
2/ The time. It would require me at least an entire month of scanning and cleaning. I don't have such time ahead, all my weekend are already very busy, and I haven't got the material to do that on weeks, working and living far away during that time from home.
Believe me, it somehow does frustrate me too.

Mouais...
