Passing thought, for some kinda game or something.
The actual gun isn't much, just a weak magnetic catapult. It fires "drone-grenades", small, melon-(not watermelon, the yellow kind) sized projectiles about two meters away.
The grenade then unfolds into a full-sized gun drone of negligeable mobility and reasonable armour strength, which patrols a small area attacking the nearest enemy.
The drone can be upgraded by shooting it with another drone-grenade. That's the progress.
1) Slow moving and pretty weak. You could pistol-whip this thing to death, but it's good for corridors.
2) Much more dangerous-the two RPG's can quickly clear a room, and it moves and turns fast enough to make flanking much harder. It also follows enemies behind walls. The machineguns are pretty accurate, and horribly fast-firing. On the other hand, armour is only marginally improved.
3) Things are getting srs, guis. It has two automatic shotguns which can fire about two shells a second, churning the enemy into sausagemeat.
If that wasn't enough, the new ballistics calculator means that it will bounce cluster grenades off walls to get behind cover, which is horrible, especially with the new X-Ray scanner.
Armour is indeed upgraded, but this thing is much better for defense of small areas and tight surroundings, as it turns soo sloooow, and can't move. At all.
4) Finally, the heavy drone. No explosives, but a pair of chainguns more than make up for that, and the different chassis and biped setup means that not only will it actively hunt out foemen and partake in the fight, the third leg turns into a sensor array, meaning it calculates the closest and most accessable enemy, as well as prioritizing targets.
Its armour can take some real punch, although it moves slowly. The two legs, while allowing easy movement, means it can be reasonably easily knocked over and takes a while to right itself. A clever opponent can easily lodge a grenade inside it.
The drone self destructs automatically when it's armour is too weak or it runs out of ammo, and the blast radius from the SD is bigger the higher the level.
Oh yeah, and ammo should be pretty scarce, to stop people building hundreds of heavy machinegun drones (although that'd be SO FUN).

Also, what the fuck is apple.
