"When she was just a girl, she expected the world.
But, it flew away from her reach and the bullets catch in her teeth.
Life goes on; it gets so heavy.
The wheel breaks the butterfly.
Every tear, a waterfall.
In the night, the stormy night, she closed her eyes.
In the night, the stormy night, away she'd fly.
And dream of para-para-paradise."
Ah, so.... Hopefully you can see the difference between younger Porcelain (left) and current/older Porcelain (right). That's the whole idea of this one. And older Porcelain looks toward the sunrise that marks a new day, a new beginning.
This one was one of my AP Concentration pieces. I'm very proud of it, especially because of what it took to finish it.
(If you don't want to read my salty and kinda sad story, skip to the place where I'll put "SKIP" ahead.)
A full day was spent on the older half of it; sketching, lining, colouring all of the layers, putting in fur texture, and then shading. It took a lot to get it done, and as I wasn't able to get home (I'd just taken my AP English exam, and I could only be driven to the backroom of the kitchen my mother works in until work was over for her and THEN she could drive me home. Yes, I'm 18 and I'm terrified of driving), I had to work in less than normal, less than comfortable, and less than practical conditions. Nonetheless, I worked from the time that the exam ended, all the way to about 9:30 at night. I was in the middle of saving it before continuing on further with the shading, when Photoshop started acting up and actually showing its loading bar, which usually only happens when I have a crap-ton of tabs open. This time, I had only one open, and there were no excuses. Well, after a while of waiting for it to load and actually save, it claimed to have done so, but then my whole computer promptly froze. With no other options, I cringed, and held down the power button.
Tl;dr, when I opened it back up, instead of my 60+ layered masterpiece of many days' work, I was met with a one-layered file of lies, black and pixelated at the top, the world's worst glitch that could ever have been conjured. I had to re-do the entire other half of it all over again at the very last second the next day, racing with the clock to meet the deadline which was, wouldn't you guess it, that very day. A looooot of the quality was lost in the re-do. But as you can see, I didn't give up. c:
(SKIP.)
All difficulties and devastation aside, here's my pride and joy, one of my best pieces thus far, and a sign to all of those people either concerned for me or still disgusted by the me that I used to be that I am leaving my past behind. I'm in a better and happier place, now, than I ever was before. I'm growing up, and that's for certain. And, you know what? I'm happy about that. c:
