Alexandria Residence, Amelia, Araius Colony: Omega XI, Infinite Sacrifice, 10/15/2018, 2430
As I swing my legs off the edge of the swing set, I jump from the top of the ladder structure adjacent the four swings and land on the ground below. I smile as my eyes scan the area around me within the confines of my backyard. Trees rise around me as I waddle through the backyard. Plentiful multicolored grasses crunch beneath my feet and a giggle escapes my lips as I rush through the warm clean air. My steps halt under the farthest tree from the house when I sense another presence nearby. I sigh with contentment as I land back-first in a garden of dragon’s bane and water’s bell, the diapers snug around my waist crinkling with my landing. I scan the garden of wonderful smells around me and smile. Dragon’s bane, named for the burning red-orange leaves and used in combustibility, to my left and Water’s bell, according to its unique ability to store water and other nutrients, to my right: two of the most plentiful garden plants in the sector.
I deep sigh of relief leaves me as scan the area once more before my eyes find the skies. A subtle pang surges through me when the blue-red hanging orb greets me. “Earth, it’s a shame that she couldn’t be saved. Her pains grew and grew, yet were ignored. Now, here I sit on my new homeworld, migrated from her, yet still much a part of her. Everything that was on Earth before her fall exists here.” A chuckle rises from my throat when a butterfly, drowned in flames, lands on my nose. My lavender eyes widen as the butterfly hangs onto my nose as though it’s a lifeline.
“Do you remember Delta Centauri, little butterfly? I doubt it, you probably were still a caterpillar when she was in her final stages of life.” I smile as the butterfly flutters on my nose then takes to the air. A giggle leaves as I stand and my eyes find the sky again. “So beautiful, so unpolluted. I still can’t believe the fleets of the forty-nine other colonies dance across the sky as stars, oval shaped stars hanging in nothing along with the flame and ice covered Earth.
“Caiden, sweetie, I was wondering where you were.”
When my eyes focus on the voice’s source, I chuckle, “I was out here, Obaasan! I was just observing the wonders of my new backyard. I never just got out of my playroom and decided to do so. I didn’t know how beautiful this new world is. Our backyard is so pretty!”
She regards me with an affirmative nod as she tousles my space black hair, then rubs my cat ears inching out from said hairy sea. “I was wondering when you were going to stop and enjoy the outdoors, Caiden.” She sits down next to me, happiness radiating around her as a shield.
I nod and cuddle towards her. I scan her loving, caring features, like minded with mine, minus the cat ears. As my tail flutters behind me, I observe her black eyes and crown of tight, dark brown coils stopping at her shoulders. Her honey toned face smiles at me as I rise from my cuddling.
“I love you, Obaasan!” roars my excited voice as I hug her tight and warm, loving energy begins to pulse through both of us as an infinite circled river. Despite leaving Earth for this new world of colony ships known as Aquaius Centauri, my Grandmother, my Obaasan has always been here for me. She was there to help me adjust to the new gravity, make new friends, and comfort me in my times of distress concerning all the aliens that have contacted me even before we arrived on this new world. I made many decisions before setting foot on this world, and I still stand by them. If I had the ability, I would have attempted to save Earth. Since I couldn’t alter that or other decisions however, I’m content with my current situation that I’ve been blessed with.
As I cuddle close to her and smile, subtle crinkles echo around the area. Happiness soars through me as I absorb the warmth and comfort that radiates from her. I love my Obaasan and I know she loves me. She’s always been there for me and I know for a fact that we will have an eternity of peace and enjoyment as the months continue to pass by. A yawn leaves me and she hugs me before heaviness of sleep takes hold of me. A smile and purr of contentment is all that remains before I surrender to peaceful slumber.
