Read up a little on the QR encoding. It's complicated; On the other hand depending on how much error correction you put on you can artistically replace certain sections and it will still decode right. Since it's using the lowest level it's 7% of the code can be damaged and still work fine.

No, self-taught. Error correction is interesting regardless, although I don't understand it too well myself.

as FlyingFire can and probably will tell you I know a little bit about that flavor of well some would call it condescension but shall we call it snark?

When I said it's complicated, I was referring to the seemingly disarray it has for the order of the bits. Sometimes it goes left to right, then it goes clockwise, counter clockwise, top to bottom, etc. Quite likely each 'code' needs it's own explicit direction of how to read it's own section. However on the flipside that isn't too difficult to write, but there's something like a dozen QR formats based on it's size to allow more data to be stored on it.
