I've been meaning to paint a Brown Hyena for years! And finally got around to it. I've never run into someone with a Brown Hyena fursona so this will go for cheap most likely. But who cares:) Maybe it'll inspire some folks. They really are the red headed step child of the Hyena world. They're also the one kind of Hyena I've never seen in the flesh. Not even sure if any North American zoos have them! And for those curious, his name is taken from the great Khalari desert where they are still in relative good numbers.

nice.
Makes me wish this was flipped upright, and his naked butt was showing, with his tail up. :P lol ^^
But then, he'd have to be against a tree or a dirty rock or something hehe... or it'd just be a different angle and you'd not see his cute face in that cute pose. ^^
Cute though. ^^

Great!
I love them -never seen them 'in the flesh' but once saw a pretty good documentary about the 'Skeleton Coast' and its animal kingdom. Brown hyenas are even more solitary then striped ones, they mostly scavange food from the beach. They also have very thick, bushy hair.
Glad you drew him, maybe it's the first anthro drawing of a brown hyena ever!

ooh, finally some brown hyena... yes, they seem abandoned allright, as seems to happen with quite some species that are interesting in themselves. people seem too picky... I'll try and do one myself some day. they are pretty and fuzzy.
I think I have seen the same documentary of the skeleton coast, many BBC docu's see broadcast in germany. was it the one with the couple and their Untralight flights going up and down the coast? where one night a lion sniffled around them at arm's length and went back into the desert again?
I can't think of any german zoo keeping them right now. spotted hyenas, striped, I think even aardwolf... but no brown ones. if I ever find them I'm sure to shoot many photos!

I'm not usually this productive if I don't have a deadline. I'm just hammering out work for the AC art show so I'm in the groove. When doing commissions there's always breaks while working while I wait to hear back from the customer and that slows me down and keeps me from getting into a groove. But that's not a problem either:)
