I didn't actually make this for Mardi Gras, or with Mardi Gras in mind, but the colors remind me of the celebration.
This was one of those "meditating in front of the TV" sculptures. The form isn't based on anything real, fantastical, or extra-terrestrial, it was just something that popped into my head as I was making it. I love the arch of its neck, though during baking the head sunk a little. Now I have to pick it up and tilt the sculpture to see its face.
