If you look at the games from a certain stance, they're tragedies.

Actually, the way the games have developed, I see Bowser as more of an antihero instead of an out and out villain. In the Seven Stars game you actually get to play as Bowser for most of the game. And even in Paper Mario, you get to take his helm (awkward, sorry) every now and then.
That would be "Super Mario RPG : Legend of the Seven Stars" so you're both talkin' about the same game.
In a sense, he's become an anti-hero, but with his role in the main series, he has remained firmly 'the bad guy'. Especially in Galaxy, they were going for him to have a lot more power and be much stronger on the evil side of things.

Okay, about four and a half hours ago, I started going through the VG Cats archive to try to find a comic... Maybe it was on another site...
But basically, it had Bowser calling up Mario to see if he could pick up Peach. "But your place is, like, eight levels away!" I really wish I could remember the rest, it was hilarious. ^_^;;
And now, I sleep.

What I don't understand is this.
1. If Bowser is so in love with her,why doesn't he just stop being a dick try being a nice guy?
2. If Peach is his "one and only",who's the mom of his kids?
3. Why does he try so hard for someone who doesn't love him? I just can't understand why people waste time on others who will never love them.

1. It's hard not to be a dick when you're a fire breathing turtle-dragon...
2. Are the Koopa Kids still in contenuity? Is there even a contenuity any more... granted that still leaves Bowser Jr... who knows where he's from... maybe he's a clone, like Boba Fett.
3. It's something people have done from the begining of time... Love is history's greatest monster!

1. When you are King of the entire Koopas, you have to maintain a tough image, otherwise you’ll be constantly battling usurpers who want your throne. Bowser can not afford to look weak or it would jeopardize everything he has struggled to build. He is trapped by his upraising and his throne, unable to be the nice guy in public for Peach. In private however he might be able to show her his true heart, but that cursed plumber always rescues her before he has the chance to do so.
2. A couple of possibilities here. One: Bowser tried to forget Peach by falling into the arms of another woman. Either she died, or left when she discovered to whom he had truly given his heart. Leaving him a single father. Two: Bowser is actually their Uncle or Godfather. When their parents died in some tragedy he took them in and raised them as his own. He’s hidden the truth from them as he does not wish them to suffer such pain until they are old enough to handle it.
3. Love makes people do stupid things.

In response to 3, love blinds. If you can't understand it, that simply means you've never been in a situation where you fall in love with someone that doesn't feel the same way. You would do anything for them, and blindly hope that some day they'll feel the same way for you. Giving up on them hurts too much to do anything else.
Altogether, Bowser has had 8(we're not counting the Mario Party series 'Koopa Kid'...that was retarded).
There's been Larry, Ludwig Von Koop, Morton Koopa Jr.(supposedly named after his grandpa), Wendy O. Koopa, Roy, Iggy, Lemmy Koopa, and Bowser Jr.
Now, interestingly enough, the original 7 Koopalings(everyone but Bowser Jr.) had seemingly died in Super Mario World...always struck me as rather violent.
But in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the Koopalings made a return! This game came out *after* the releast of Super Mario Sunshine, so the Koopalings had survived Mario's onslaught in SMW.
Which means that currently, Bowser has 8 children. But the Koopalings and Bowser Jr. have yet to actually appear in the same game together.
How's *that* for Mario trivia history, eh?

Yup, children for sure.
*ahem, putting on reading glasses and opening up his still in-tact SMB3 NES manual*
*BOWSER IS BACK!!!*
"Ha ha ha! These are my 7 children that are going to help me take over the Mushroom World!"
*closes the book, and takes off the glasses*
So, yes, the Koopalings are indeed 7 children, and Bowser Jr. is, umm...well, obviously his 8th child.
Now, who the fuck is birthin' these Godzilla like creatures?

You know, until someoen points it out, you really never notice it.
I mean, who;s gonna love a giant turlesaur thing? All he wants is some lovin, and instead some hairy Danny DiVito wanna be comes dashing in and swipes the girl of his dreams away.
Poor Bowser, I mean even King Kong got some pity outta the girl.

I've always been of the mind that Bowser would eventually win over Peach. After all, they've got a few things that are working in their favor.
1) They're immortal. Okay, probably not really, but I've always thought that there was something in the Mushroom Kingdom that drove off aging. It explains why a dumpy midget plumber from Brooklyn still looks almost the same after 20+ years. The thing is, they're natives. That effect is tailored for them. Eventually, it's gonna have some side-effects on the Italian wonderboy - or it'll just stop working for him.
2) Bowser's entire life seems to revolve around Peach, while Mario spends most of his time adventuring, go-karting, golfing, attending the olympics... et cetera.
3) Mario's a decent guy, but he's passionless. Bowser's got the real heart of the two.
4) Bowser = king. Mario = renter with a family business that's probably gone down the tubes, since he spends all his time in another dimension.
This is to say nothing of the... ahem... less safe-for-work things I could mention. Let's just say I've thought up a few versions of a koopa-human hybrid for the inevitable offspring...

Well, I dunno about past games (I've played the very first 3 but seeing as the console belonged to my cousin who I only visited a handful of times a year I never actually got very far) but he was a right prat in Galaxy.: P
Honestly, it's like he's in the 2nd grade and kicking the girl he likes in the shins every morning.: P
Koopa needs to tips methinks.

Perhaps originally he wanted to force a marriage to combine his kingdom and Toadstool's. ...or maybe to cement a place as real ruler. However, I'd imagine he developed an obsession for her after defeat, which developed into those accursed mushy feelings. ...either that or he's always had the hots for her and just doesn't know what is and isn't acceptable when trying to pick up chicks. Perhaps for his kind, what he's doing is normal.

Portal fans might get a kick out of it.

Hmm. Somehow, this makes me wonder if the whole kidnap-run to castle thing is part of some Koopa mating ritual. I mean, it never WORKS, yet he keeps trying it, like it's some instinct that he can't overcome.
"Bowser, I don't-a get it. You always kidnap-a da princess. You always take-a her to the castle. I always to go the wrong-a castle, but eventually I find the right-a castle. EVERY FRICKIN'-A MONTH."
"LOOK, THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT'S DONE IN THE OLD COUNTRY!"
And yes, I realize I did less of a Mario and more of a Chico Marx there. :)

All I can say for Bowser is the ending of Paper Mario 2 is rather happy for him if you think about it. And I will link to a comic: http://www.catenamanor.com/comics/07/20070625.html . Sadly the comic's on indefinate hiatus.
A friend of mine found this: http://pressstarttoplay.net/comics.php?date=060113
I know what you mean... but there is hope! in the most recent paper mario, though they have a sham wedding that I'm sure they'll discredit, Peach actually says something along the lines of bowser being cute when he's grumpy or something to that affect, so she may be developing feelings... or it could be my desire for the two to get together is overpowering my ability to decipher what's going on.
