Have you read the new series? It's really good, definitely helping to heal the character after Way's destructive meme-spouting run. They've even gotten a good retcon for why he was acting like that much of an idiot with headvoices during that run.

Also his new wife is great, I really hope she sticks around but y'know, nothing ever goes right for ol' Wade.

He's annoying, he has a really shitty life, a lot of other heroes can't stand him because he constantly talks and tries to crack jokes to both ease his own miserableness and make himself more likeable to others, but a lot of people specifically hate just that. Nothing goes right for poor Wade, as funny and as much of a heart of gold he has. He's basically Spider-man taken to the next level, where he has no family, few real friends, and with the mask off he looks like a zombie due to the constant battle between his healing factor and freaking cancer.

Deadpool's had an ongoing series since 1997, and it was the 1997 run that really established the character like this. While he can't catch a break he gives his damndest and he's a damn good person, so he's fun to read about. The 1997 and 2012-Present comic runs of "Deadpool" and Deadpool's appearance in Uncanny X-Men have been the best so far, and arguably Cable and Deadpool, though Cable and Deadpool paved the way for Daniel Way's run from 2008-2012... Which ignored everything previous and made him a zany meme-spouting fourth wall breaking unfunny idiot. Yeah, Deadpool breaks the fourth wall, but stuff previous and since have played this lightly, to where it's charming rather than tiresome.

Just... man, I dunno, seeing people talk about CHIMICHANGAS XD and other stuff is just bizarre when you read the actual comics. Yeah, Deadpool is funny, but Deadpool is also fucking heartbreaking.
