I've been extremely excited to show off some of the art I've been working on. This particular piece was done for a class, our assignment was to take another artists work and without using a computer or a copying machine make a black and white translation of the image. I had to turn up the saturation of the colors so they would be bright enough to make a decent challenge.
The idea is that people often paint or draw or paint what they think they see, rather than translate values directly. More saturated colors provide for a greater difficulty since the colors trick the eye. The original image uses extremely subtle changes of colors and has a wide range of values. This made for an intense challenge but I am extremely proud of the result. I also have a greater respect for Kenket for the amount of detail in her pictures.
Please see the original image made my the amazing
Kenket, and compare the values for yourself. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11824786/ A big thanks to Kenket for letting me post this.
The image is done on 9x12 canvas paper in black and white acrylic paint.
