This brings to mind some (useful, but unwanted) facts about fresh eggs and floating in water.

Do the eggs of aquatic creatures float, too? I've never really thought about it.

I'm pretty certain that at least some species stick their egg clutches to aquatic plants and other immobile objects to keep them anchored.

A quick google search brings me examples of fish that bury their eggs/ make nests and care for their eggs.
