Well yeah. Of course I had do draw the King of Monsters after seeing the movie.
Just couldn't help it. But my fanart doesn't do it justice XD
I tried some Mattepainting on the background, but I mostly covered up with Godzilla in the end,#looked aweful ^^; I really need to practice that. The Stock for the Buildings is from Shutterstock.com!
Over all this was a fast picture...don't have so much time for private fun atm X_X
#liked the new movie. (I wrote a journal, if you care for my opinion on it) and I wanted to paint Godzilla since forever.

I am really excited. I thought it was interesting that people complained about him being fat because the big g has ALWAYS been fat. really the only reason he seems fatter is because of his feet and head are smaller than most of the toho versions. if you look at King Kong vs Godzilla or GMK he is super fat in those. XP
well I never really liked the original Godzilla design from the japanese movies, I prefered the Godzilla from the western movie but I must say I really liked the way it was designed in the nw movie, didnt think it was looking fat either. Actually suits a predator of it's size I think
the old movies made sense because it was the best they could do with a guy in a suit
the western one was too far off base from the original and didn't feel like godzilla, just a giant lizard in general with little comparable similarities
But yes this new godzilla, Man it was just right on the fucking nose.

well I never really watched the old movies, I just saw some cuts showing the "old" Godzilla. Or some games with it.
And well, in the western movie this is basically what it is, a giant lizard, mutatded. They just called him Godzilla because thats what they have in common. Still I find its desing good, especially its offsprings just looked cute ^^

I saw the movie in its sneak preview and in my opinion:
* it was a good movie!
* for my taste there were too much love-scenes and too little GODZILLA-action-scenes

Some hilarious stuff was:
* the explanation "he is there for the balance" --> that mean, two of them on the entire planet are to many?
* the father taking off his mask "there is no radioaktivity!" --> well yes... if my instruments show me zero radioactivity, i know i forgot to turn on the instrument... on top of that, everyone knows it is an instant kill if you take off your mask in an radioaktiv aeria
* in the moment where the second one appears --> oh good you guys got in there and searched for it in every corner... because that giant hole in the back of the mountain is hard to see from the outside...
* it was a good movie!

I kinda loved those moments like that where it just seemed like the Military was just dropping the fucking ball so hard xD it was so comical I couldn't help but laugh in the theatre

that's what I thought too. I mean they go there with heli's and fly around the damn island, considering how big the base is (and the fact that it is not unguarded after all) it will take them at least a few minutes to get to that chamber of the opposite sde of the mountain. yet no one before that soldier saw it? or no one hearded it when that bug actually broke out? seriously? It ripped a hole into a mountain, that must have been hell of a noise
Damn look at the detail on that building! Is his spine neon blue like that in the movie?
if he looks anything similar to this, it's far more faithful to the source material then the late 90's movie. Hyped!
Now we just gotta convince Rotarr to try Dark Souls 2 for even more awesome fan art

I don't think he's too fat, I think his problem is that his head is way too small for his body type. They really should've given him a larger head, like the millennium-era Godzilla. His body type is fine, I don't have a problem with that, but the people that made the effects for him made his head way too small. That's the only gripe I have. The way his head looks is awesome, I just wish they had made it bigger.
