Wanted something that looked retro and clunky, but still plausible as a fightercraft.
Other minor details from the design sheet; includes a small stateroom, 1 Dton cargo (aft of the stateroom), system wide radio and laser comm systems, a 50,000km maser (microwave) comm, active EMS sensor suite (includes radar, ladar, radar jammer, radio jammer, active IR and image enahncement) to 50,000km, and passive EMS sensor suite (includes laser sensor, radar direction finder, radio direction finder, radiation sensor, passive IR, light amplification and image enhancement) to 100k AU.
Normally, it has full grav plating and inertial compensators internally, though these systems tended to be flaky and easily damaged in combat. As a result, these systems are usually the first to be cannibalized from the scrapyard, leaving some salvaged variants to have only rudimentary grav plating, and even that sometimes only in the living quarters.
