I commissioned the unstoppable illustration juggernaut that is
thebeesknees for this one. Thanks, Bees!
When he's not at home teasing FYS, Bill works as a prep chef in a fine restaurant. He's very proficient with a chef's knife, so he's the man to have in your corner if you need some carrots brunoise or tomato concassé! As you might imagine, Bill is frequently recruited to do prep work for FYS when she gets up to adventures in the kitchen.
Here, our poor hero is having an attack of teary eyes while chopping an onion! It happens to the best of us sometimes, even the professionals. ^_~

Ha! I hear you. ^_~ I love Swype, and I'm even using it to write this response, but you need to proofread it, for sure. If you're lucky, it'll generate a word that doesn't at all fit in the sentence. Unlucky, though, and it'll change the meaning of what you wrote. I think not/now is the worst.
Heh, so that's what Bill does in his time on the clock. Interesting!
I have to say there's something about this piece that really impresses me. I think, I'm not 100% sure but I think that the background to this is a photograph that Bees worked over and drew Bill in. I always find that tactic very intriguing.
Heh but wait, shark eyes are immune to salt water, why would onions make him cry?

Yes indeed! He might someday be a sous chef or even head chef!
I'm also pretty sure this is a photo. I'm seriously impressed if it isn't!
Bill might be able to swim in the ocean without any trouble, but he's not immune to the sulfuric acid that forms in your eyes when the vapors from a cut onion interact with your tears! The poor guy just got an extra powerful onion this time. ^_~

Yes indeedy! Onions contain volatile organic compounds locked up in their cells. When damaged by slicing, they combine to form propanethial S-oxide, which wafts up as a vapor. When it reaches your face, it reacts with the water in your tears to make H2SO4, which irritates your eyes. ^^
hehe not a photo (but certainly based off one!) My background painting process is really easy, though! I posted a kind of step by step about it over here!
