Barnacles were probably my favorite enemies of the series, in close race with the head crabs.

headcrabs were a pain in the arse, but going barnacle bowling? now that was fun.
or just feeding them useless crap to have them spit it out again...that was fun.

headcrabs were just a pest.

like mudcrabs are for elderscrolls. a pest.

I wish they would have expanded on the types of headcrabs though, there is great potential for that!

Thanks a lot! Conceptually, it was really similar to a monster I was told to reference, as well as the well-known barnacles from the Half Life world :b I wanted to do something a bit different while still keeping true to the director's intent. So I gave him thin, translucent "feelers" that hang down, sticking to and entangling passers-by, alerting the monster and giving it a chance to grapple the prey with its barbed tongues and pull it into it's creepy mouth, haha.

I love making monsters and stuff... This is similar to a creature I made for a story, except those were on the ground, instead, and probably a lot less menacing.

It's monster like these that weed out the newcomers from the veterans. Newcomers look at the floor and eye level for monsters, veterans remember to also check out the ceiling.
