The Goodbye

When all you knew,
Were but ashes upon the wind,
When your own heart,
Would not, should not be trusted.
What remains is a shell,
A voice that is torn by the howling gale.
What remains is an empty being,
Devoid of ideas, devoid of life.
When every breath was breathed,
When every song had been sung,
How then, does one's tale end?
Doth it end in a flash of lightning?
A clap of thunder?
Or a whisper?
Barely audible over the raging storm
The winds twisting and turning,
Tearing the very fabric of 'life' apart.
Devouring every ideal, every word.
Now, the silence falls,
And every minute,
Every second away from this world,
Is another minute,
Another second closer to being forgotten.
Then again...
Where does one go, if not towards hope?
For that is, the human principle,
In the face of despair, one will find,
Hope.
Where at the end of the road was emptiness, now, maybe now, there will be peace.
Where the very world you shaped, returns.
Mayhap, a world of wonder.
