I keep the tail on a seperate layer from everything else and just blur the edges to give a feel of depth.
I also airbrushed some white over parts of it to give it that look of 'lost in the steam' heh. :D

You know, I generally don't go for rhinos. But this... yeah, I agree with hom.nom.nom. This is fantastic. Very nicely done - and I don't know what it is, but there's something super sexy about his facial expression.

It really is. I can see it in the length and depth of his abdominals, or the definition in the obliques. It's really well done. And, by the way... You draw amazing biceps and facial expressions!

But no, yeah, it always really amps me up and makes me feel good about my work when I hear such things!

I find it interesting actually; he's got a face that makes me think 18 year old--must be the expression' makes me think, "Pfuh, that was a hell of a workout..."--and yet he's got the body of a 30 year old linebacker. Makes sense for a rhino to be built like that, of course! And maybe he's just an early bloomer (if so, panties be dropping!), but wow is he perfectly developed!

What do you use for a reference? Anything?

I scour the web for inspirational stock photos or references, usually having to weed through the, erm, adult-themed advertisements sometimes haha.
Deviant art sometimes has some good stock references, as well as a few figure-practicing sites that cycle through different figures for quicker anatomy practice. ^^

"Inspirational" ... Hmm, seems to me like that could mean a whole bunch of things! I'll be totally honest though; I've never seen an adult ad with guys nearly as hot and awesomely ripped as you draw em. Feralise, you know where all the studs hang out, apparently!

But anyhow it looks great, as others have said the anatomy is top notch, same goes for the muscle definition and how life like it looks. You did a great job there, though i think you did well on his expressiveness also. I mean that look of unease/surprise as he realises were all checking him out & ogling him~ is rather cute, its like he is being unintentionally sexy. Well captured body language though. Nice simple BG, pose work(the arm placement = classic sexy xD~), nice towel detailing, steam n good use of lighting/shadowing too etc...The char really pops if you will. All round its lovely, the fact its your first rhino as well, makes it that more impressive, excellent arts :).

*I like the glint in his eyes also, just these little touches & attention to detail can add so much to an image. Make it go from good to great imo.
