I had a bit of a hard and busy week, so I felt like working loosely today and ended up producing a pile of sumi sketches.
Here are a few quick, random gifts for people - Fishing cat for Moonvoice, Tiger for Kenket, ocelot for Oce, and a clouded leopard for Heather Bruton. :)

Super nice work with the sumi pens. It's free and easy but very nicely defined too. Great quality with simplicity...Zen-like indeed. Ohm.....

I actually used a paintbrush for these, a traditional style Japanese one which I dipped in ink. :) There are sumi-e pens, they have a sort of brushlike tip to them.

I like sumi art, but sumi is hard to use for me. You are great!
How did you meet sumi? can you get sumi easily in your country?

I first played with sumi ink about ten years ago, found a small bottle of it at an art store and went from there. :) After awhile I did some research, got a proper brush and just kept playing with it. I just do it for fun to make quick, loose pieces - I usually do very detailed work, so this is a nice break.

Congratulations. It looks very similar to chinese brush-style painting, which would make sense condsidering how close the two countries are to each other. I've never managed anything as articulate or flowing as these, though.
