Greetings Travelers! I have some very exciting news to share with you.
Myself, and the staff at Fur The ‘More would like to announce our new convention location, dates and time. In the year 2015 Fur The ‘More is “Going FURther and Doing More!” in its new location of The Sheraton Premiere in Tysons Corner, Virginia. The convention dates have also changed to be more convenient without having to worry about any of that snow business, so the dates for Fur The ‘More are now May 29th through May 31st. The changes that have been made are very positive for our convention goers as we now have a fixed room rate of $109 a night for double beds, and the rooms are located on the first three floors in the premiere wing of the hotel.
As announced at the end of Fur The ‘More 2, the theme for next year’s convention is Cryptozoology. Be on the lookout for strange beings! The yeti, big foot, the chupacabra, the cockatrice, and those pesky jackalopes are afoot, and I, Quoth, have been doing a lot of research on them for many years. I’ve only gotten such a fleeting glimpse that sometimes even I think it’s not real, and only a dream, but I swear I’ve seen them, with my own two eyes, right over my own beak! Ahem, but yes, back to the announcements.
We are working with the hotel staff to create a “noisy block” so you late night partiers don’t have to worry about noise complaints, and a “quiet block” for those who like to relax and settle in at night. Our new location is only ten minutes from the Maryland state line on the 495 beltway. There is free parking, free internet, and the hotel is approximately 200 feet from a Wal-Mart, and is also situated right across from the metro. With the use of the new Silver Line you will also be able to reach the Tyson’s Corner Super Mall, which is quite a sight to see if I do say so myself. More information regarding the shopping and food will be released later in the year. In the meantime, if you have any questions, concerns, or inquiries, please email us at marketing@furthemore.org. We thank you for your continued support, and we wish you safe travels, as always.

There was someone on the Anthrocon forum specifically asking if Anthrocon could movie to DC, because they wanted a large already-established furry con in DC. Someone brought up Fur the 'More being nearby, and their response was pretty much "But it's not big like Anthrocon". And now we're in DC.
The moral of this story is the AC forums drive me insane.

I can understand that feeling. Hopefully you will re-consider attending. We do have a lot of fun, and we worked really hard to make the room cost as low as possible. Rooming with other people you could easily only spend $50 for the weekend for your room (four people in the room staying Fri and Sat).
The Convention and Visitors Bureau informed us that WMATA has assured them the line should be passenger ready by July 2014. While we will wait to see, news stories seem to confirm this information.

You should watch the
MarylandFurs page. Really, everyone in Maryland should. We've got a Mission BBQ meet tomorrow, an Arundel Mills movie meet next weekend, and my gaming meet is always the last weekend of every month.

It's also expensive and not conducive to keeping our costs low for you, the attendee.
Who knows, maybe in a few years, if people continue to help us grow, we'll grow into the BCC. But it's also going through some growing pains (part of why Otakon is moving to DC, if I remember correctly).

As posted, we hope this to be a temporary move. And besides DC and Baltimore are all considered inside of the same Metro Area. We are literally only moving 40 miles (give or take).
Our decision came down to the best possible value to our attendees. $20 less per night for rooms, more space, more events, devoted floors within the first 3 floors above the convention center, easy access to travel (metro and airports), excellent location to dining and shopping options, free, the return of our Friday Keg Event, and tons more. It is a win/win for everyone in the end.

“Be that word our sign in parting, bird or fiend!” I shrieked, upstarting—
“Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken!—quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

Nahhh don't listen to all those debbie downers~
I for one, am not fond of getting mugged so I would never been comfortable going if it was to remain in Baltimore, my mate and I have bad history with living there and take kindly to avoid it now.
Plus, it's a lot closer to somewhere we can get to this way, looking forward to it if I can make it this year! ;3
