(Hopefully this came out correctly, lot goes on)
Yep, said I was going to do something. Technically I had planned for something a year or two ago, but didn't want to go "my bad" if any irony involving the end of the world came up.
Instead, cheated a bit hehehe.
ANYWAY...
You know how it is...small town girl...in a big...huge...apocalyptic wasteland...alone. Then recall that there are a lot of idiots out there who take advantage of the situation.
And that's just what happened to NPC #4 ....
Raiders are jerks...and they remain jerks. So when one gets vaporized in front of you, morning isn't really something to do. Instead, your either running yourself or thanking the shooter heheh...
Ok, lets go properly....
FALLOUT 3!
Perhaps one of the first games for the PS3 I've played. I'm no adamant shooter, I was more intrigued with the possibility of a large story with many decisions and RPG elements, and boy did it deliver.
The story is enticing and involves a creative touch to make your character as "naive" in the world as you yourself. You start in a vault, where your live has pretty much been up to this point, with a family secret that has begun to spring up again. Launched into a huge (HUGE) world looking for your father, you greet, settle, fix, and fight your way to survive to the end.
Not a shooter? Well, you've got melee stuff, but guns are where it's at. Whether it's bullets or lasers, that's where it is. I forgot to show it here, but for those unsure...there is VATS! Think of it as an auto-aiming skill. If you can't hit the side of a mixing tube, you can use VATS to attack. Helpful little tool that.
There are TONS of places to go, people to meet, things to find, choices to make...so much so that....yeah...glitching can happen. Personally, haven't experienced too much...but yeah, lock-ups and slow-downs usually call for a reboot. Sure, it IS frustrating....but to be honest, the experience is cool. If they ever fix everything and re-release, good for you newbies.
Fallout 3 is a great game for many genre types. It's spook, for instance, investigating an abandoned vault for the first time. What happened here? What horrors await that may have come? Will I find something special? All those questions can be answered to a decent scavenger.
The scavenger (or, looter, rather) will love all the stuff packed into the game. A lot of generic weaponry and some unique ones, and repairing them to keep'em in top condition...you scavenge materials, food, and the right stuff to sell to make a fortune to sustain yourself in your quests.
Can't remember my first trudge out into the wasteland, but it was awesome, I'm sure. I did get the ultimate edition, and managed to complete a couple DLCs (bonus alien one ha! Oooooh that storage bay...soooooo muuuuccchh stuuuffff). Honestly, maybe I can't put it into words how many things can happen in this game. Sure, it can be glitchy, but sometimes that leads to funny things hehehe.
I do remember being on my own mostly...as I was worried about my companions dying on me, never to return. Though thankfully Dogmeat (the IMMORTAL, seriously) has that neat perk basically making him...well invincible heheh.
I may re-write when I get the chance in case I can speak about it better.
For now, I leave with advice for new players going into FALLOUT 3. It WILL make your life easier. It isn't a weapon, it isn't a skill, it isn't a secret quest. It's something you'll need and will save you frustration.
HAVE AN EXPLOSIVES SKILL OF 25!
When you first enter Megaton (go there first!) and get approached by a Mr. Cowboy Sheriff...do as he asks...and defuse that bomb. Then tell him you have. You'll get a key. And this key opens a house near the gates of Megaton. Literally...to YOUR HOUSE.
Here, you can rest, restoring your health and limbs. Not only that, but you get that temporary 10% bonus to EXP (sub-tip, don't take Swift Learner, or Fawkes will sock you). Won't spoil the other things, but the main thing is this....
SAFE STORAGE.
Yep...it's GOOD to have some place to store your stuff. Then you can figure out what to take, store, fix, and sell. And you don't have to worry about the game messing up emptying things out, leaving a pack of cigarettes (or a carton, those things sell great).
That is my advice to you newbies, a place to hang your hat and lay your gun. Because after the Apocalypse, there's still no place like home heh.

I remember when I first played F3. I made a rather big mistake. In the first level, where your escaping from the Vault, I was trying to get the Overseer to tell me these codes without taking the evil path. I suddenly got the stupid idea that roughing him up might make him talk, bad idea. So he started attacking me and wouldn't stop. I didn't want to kill him because that would piss off Amata. And as luck would have it, I didn't save at all. So ended the first and so far only time I played F3.
Know that feeling. Sometimes you think your guy may not do something AS bad as in your head, but turns out to be the ultimatum. Personally, as I'll say in piece 2 (yes there's another to come down the line people!), I tried to be the good guy myself. The apocalypse has caused enough deaths, and the raiders (and later, Enclave) do enough themselves. The world needs a hero!....ok, so maybe that hero needs some guns, a place to leave, maybe a dog, and a heck of a Speech Skill (not to mention Lockpicking and Science), but he'll get there!...Eventually.
Seriously? That stopped you? 0_0 Your missing out on a lot 0_0 Sure, Amata would be mad...but overall...no...real change to things except comments in a later mission. Can't recall how, but think you have to get through to him using Amata, like threatening to do something to her or whatever...can't remember, I'd have to look it up. But yeah, keep your saves up, as who knows what can happen.
Fallout 3 is a huge experience, like I said...and there's a lot of desperate stuff that happens (including a VERY creepy vault, part of the main quest, and a certain little "slice of heaven" called Andale *winks to experienced players), and a lot you can fix/make better. So don't give up, Save and Reload shall be your friend!

Cool. And one time while I came out of a vault I had been exploring. I came across a bunch super mutants and a Deathclaw fighting. The Deathclaw won with a tiny bit of HP left, but so was I and most of my limps being cripple. Was thankful I had found a stealthboy in that vault. cause I didn't won't to press my luck as I sneak away so I could Fast travel back to Megaton.
Oh jeez...I did a replay of Vegas one time, having two party members with me...thought I was at a decent level to take on a Deathclaw (my original character owned them)...nope, nope...took one ally in two hits, the other in three, and suddenly ON ME....
Can't remember if it's in Vegas...but at least in Fallout 3...bow to the greatness that is the Dart Gun!

I HATE those Cazadors! They move so much it's hard to get a shot...and it takes ages to try and target their head in VATS...
By extension, hate poison too. Think only them and the Radscorpions have it...and it's just...not a good gameplay mechanic. Only, like, two creatures have it...depletes HP...your practically dead without antivenom (don't make it myself, and it's hard to find unless you buy)...and worse, it'll DEFINITELY get your allys because they can't use antivenom to cure themselves.

Aim for a Cazadors' wings frist in VATS. That slow them down as they are just as fast as giant ants when they are ground. And indeed on the antivenom. Also need a pretty high Survival skill to unlock the ability to make it. So with you on the hated of those giant flies.
