this bridge near Ft Laramie in Wyoming was built in 1875 & used until 1928
Now a historical monument & you can walk across it
The abutments are for when the river freezes & ices up

nopes Permanent
was a vital link between Ft Laramie, Cheyenne, military outposts, Indian agencies, & the gold fields of the Black Hills Region

Awesome!! I doubt if anything built today would last as long.. I hear sayings of a lot of our bridges have met or exceeded their expected lifespan.. We just don't seem to build them like we used to.

After Ft Laramie closed it was used regularly as a bridge until a new bridge was built next to this bridge in 1928
