I've yet to see the new one, much to my dismay (moving in two weeks, need all the money we can get), but I have been a fan of the old-school Showa and Heisei films since I was a kid. I'm very stoked.
Just one slight little note, though, is that Godzilla and all of his intellectual property rights are owned by Toho, not Warner Brothers. It's an honest mistake, though, so no worries.

If the 2014 movie is your introduction, they do checkout the Japanese films. :) The 1954 film is the only one to match the 2014 in scale and epicness.
