This is a little something I have been working on.
I give my soul to you originally talks about a person who has recently died of old age and telling everything that he has experienced to the one who will review and recieve his soul before he dies. This average man’s life has a few happy overtones and hopefully makes It an interesting little story that allows one to reflect on their own life in order to see how they can live their life. But that was my first impression of the piece when I finished it ^^ I'd love to see what you guys think of it.
Enjoy~
I Give My Soul to You
I give my soul to you
In all its glory,
All its pain,
Floating away from my own body
It came from desperation to be renewed.
Waning, Mesmerized by a world
Drowned in fire, engulfed by sea-water,
Calloused from struggles old and modern
It made its rounds along the circle.
Starting with my quick beginnings
I give it back as only afterthought
To be received by you.
But I make its round finite.
Only borrowing it for a hundred winters.
Throughout its time with me it’s seen,
Another life lived happily
Another life of a hard days work,
Of dripping, Sweating, toiling
Wearing, wheezing, running, flying far beyond the horizon.
Through dreams it gave me happiness,
Through love it showed me heaven,
And although I made no great impact,
I loved it so with passion
The time I spent with it on this earth was both a blessing
And a curse
Even still it gave me life
And not a single day alike with each passing day.
I had it with me all the while.
Learned the things it thought worthwhile.
That sunshine was a gift from God, from grace
And those Cold, dark, silent nights.
And Kindness: the acknowledgement of life,
So as I give my soul to thee.
I remind you that life is a journey,
And when I’m buried deep in the ground,
I hope my soul is homeward bound.
Making its rounds among the stars with everyone together.
