It's just occured to me that I haven't got any photos of heavies in this gallery (well, apart from Bea of course)! Shocking. :P So I'll upload a few of my favourite ones taken at this years spring show - I got a fair few, despite the fact I was actually working for a team during the entire weekend. XD
One of the stallions before their class, recieving a final brush and polish. Personally, I wouldn't be so brave as that man to not only stand behind a stallion, but to bend down by its back hooves too!!

ARGH! SHAVED TAIL!.. but at least it's not a DOCKED tail.. dang, I hope that horse don't have to poop. :) Though I've seen that happen to folks more times than I can count.. the best though, was when one of my horses pooped on a chicken.. totally BURIED the chicken.. and.. why I'm talking about poop.. I dunno. sorry. Just my five year old self coming through the keyboard I guess. :P
yes, it was a particularly stupid chicken. 8) in fact, it RAN into th eline of fire anticipating bits of grain and got a bit more than it bargained for. :>
RE: the shaved tail.. makes it hard to swat at flies. My boy henry is the only draft horse I ever had with a full tail. The others I have all got docked at an early age (A particularly barbaric practice that I don't endorse at all.)

Ahahaaa, shame you didn't get a photo/video. :P Poor chicken.
Ah, well the horse still has a tail - it's just all braided up at the top there, that's how all heavies are shown over here. The hair is allowed to grow long(ish) from the top quarter of the tail, whereas the rest of it is shaved.

To be honest I don't really understand how that works - or rather, what the point of it is. Because if you chop a couple of vertebrae off the bottom of the horses tail ... the hair can still grow to the same length as it would if the tail itself hadn't been docked, surely. So why not just cut the tail hairs short and shave the tail, as it's done here?
uhm, nope. the hairs DONT grow as long as the tail normally does.. no where near as long. sadly. and the way it works is that they dock teh tail then trim the hairs down.. cuz they are f'n LAZY and unconcerned about the horses' ability to swat at flies with their tail. But I digress...
