“Oh my God! Why-Why!!!”
“Hmm? What are you taking about?” I just stared at her; she was crying, upset, and afraid. Why was she afraid? It wasn’t her I left, only them. Stop being afraid you stupid little shit! She quivered and gripped at her chest as if she had one.
“Why leave them! All of them!”
“I know….” I stared, feeling nothing while she continued to reach at nothing. She didn’t understand, she never would understand. She liked them; she wanted them close together even if it suffocated her. Even though they had suffocated her, she wanted them back.
“We’re alone! Alone!”
“Yes, we are.” I turned away; I didn’t want to look at her as she trembled in heart clawing fear.
“ALONE!! Don’t you understand!? We’ve returned to the same place we were in Elementary school! In Middle School! We have no one!”
“Yes, You stupid little bitch we are, we’ve reverted back into the little girl who grabbed at paper and pencils for security. The girl who begged silently for someone to love her, what is your point?”
“I don’t want this! I want them! I want them back!” she thrashed at the diary pages on the floor our shared mind.
“They hurt you.” I pointed out.
“I don’t care! Maybe they didn’t know they were? Maybe they won’t this time?” she grabbed at the papers and skimmed over the pages that reminded her of the pain they caused.
