So you know how sometimes I like writing little bits of story for the pictures I commission and post? I'd love to write a story bit for this one. Honestly, look at it, it's begging to have a story behind it. A sly chee, sitting in a field, and showing off all his spotted fluff to the world. And with that expression, who knows what he's thinking. So that's why I came up with the title I gave this one.
Anyways, I got this commission way back...near the beginning of the semester I think. I forget exactly when. Been about 3 months. It got lost in the heap of commissions I needed to upload, but I decided it was I finally share this one. Plus I've really been wanting to share this one! Don't have too many pictures of some classy nudity. I kinda like it. I should get more.
But I digress. Way back in the beginning of the semester, Hibbary had opened up for sketch commissions. It was around the time I was thinking "I like traditional art, I want some" and "I like realistic art. I should get some" and "I should probably not spend money on that." But I couldn't resist! Hibbary had a style I thought would fit Skips awesomely, and guess what! It did. I had said it was okay for Skips to be nude, so long as nothing was showing, and this is what I got. Best part is, I actually have this picture. It's a traditional sketch that Hibbary offered to have mailed or picked up at a con. I opted for mailed, because I knew cons were gonna be a long shot for me this year.
I love this picture so much though, mainly because it is kinda different from the others I've gotten. It's not all super serious. It's not all silly either. It's Skips, not being such a shy chee, and maybe hoping to have some fun. And plus fluff! Love the fluff in this one. Totally would hug. Though, considering I consider Skips to be myself, that sounds kinda narcissistic.
Also, I've been told that today is Paw Day, so I guess this is a good tome to post this picture, because it's got a nice little paw shot in this one. Though I think they're rather shy paws this time around. But I like that.
Anyways, really big thanks to Hibbary for the sketch! I love it so much. Hopefully, I'll get to do more with the picture than just keep it in a folder. Maybe hang it somewhere? We'll see.

Heh, thanks. And I must agree, he does look rather more handsome than normal in this. Though I think that's from the style, and I like more realistic styles, so I'm naturally biased to like this one better. And I'm rambling now, so sorry about that. She did a nice job, so I'm glad you agree.
Oh! That's a good question. I honestly don't remember! I vaguely remember a post where a number of sketches were on one sheet, which drew my attention to the cheetah. Later, I saw the full version posted up somewhere and downloaded it. So when I saw you had it posted up, I decided to look, because I really didn't know much about the picture. I took a quick look through her gallery here and I didn't see it. Maybe she posted it on her Tumblr?
And I agree that the fandom needs more cheetah! I'm the same about the characters - I think it's so much better when there is a story and a character behind the image too!

It might have been Tumblr. I don't Tumbl (yet), so that would explain why I haven't seen it posted.
And I kinda like the fandom isn't completely full of cheetahs. Means you can still have a Natural fur coloring and still be recognizable. Heh. But you're right, stories are awesome. Probably why I like posting text walls on my commissions.

It's ok - I don't have a Tumblr either, which could be why I can't remember where I saw it! It could have been linked in from Twitter too. So much social media these days!
And I totally agree with you. It is nice to be able to have a "normal" cheetah and still stand out. It's funny when "normal" *is* the stand-out quality, right? And yeah, I also try to write something to go with each submittal I make. And come up with original image names too. I know so many are just here for the art, but I like reading things like the artist's thoughts while they were creating a piece, or what idea/story inspired the piece. Or even some interpretation of what is going on in the picture (sometimes even the artist doesn't know LOL).

Ah. Twitter. I don't tweet, either. Too much social media to keep up with, you know? And it is odd that being normal is how you stand out nowadays. Things have come full circle I suppose. Definitely glad I didn't get into the fandom when you had to be some neon colored techno wolf to fit in. And I've reading the stories behind the art! It gives personality to the artist or commissioner. Gives a reason for why the art exists. Some people just post the art with no description. I can understand if it's an artist churning out commissions. But when the committee does it as well? Might have awesome piece art, yet no background as to why it's there. Seems like a waste to me.
Yeah, I begrudgingly got a Twitter because it's kind of needed to watch some people. I rarely tweet on it. And I totally don't understand the people who need to tweet every single moment of their waking life. I don't dislike it... just don't understand it.
I also think it's interesting how "normal" is new the standout. It wasn't all that long ago when you needed to have a rainbow-winged half wolf, dragon, lion, phoenix. Now those people are kind of the norm, which I find particularly funny.
And I get it with the artists just posting the image and maybe a "commissioned by XXX". But I think it's sad, particularly when the commissioner either doesn't repost it, or reposts it with no description either. I mean, I have commissioned art with nothing more than "draw an action pose" but then based on the art itself, it seems to me that some kind of story always pops out. Like with that picnic picture that Cybercat did, half the fun was in people trying to figure out what those two were discussing. And then why not share those thoughts in the description, right? So, yeah, totally agree on it being kind of a waste when people don't post a description.

Yeah, I don't understand it much myself. I can get why artists do it, because it's all like "Art! Check it out!" and it's an easy way to showcase it off. But me, with how I do social media, the concept of twitter just doesn't fit with how I do things.
And, my God, I've seen some some crazy sparkly stuff out there. Like you say, rainbow-winged half wolf dragon things. And I'm sitting here, being a normal ol' king chee, wondering what the hell is going on with all that. But yeah, it was practically the norm. And I'm just happy with my simple spots and stripes.
Oh, yeah, I know some folk who get art but never post it. The artist will post a cool picture with a cool character, but give no words about it. I go find the commissioner, and their page is just empty. All they do is favorite their commissions. Nothing about their characters, what they're doing, their stories, what they represent or anything. I get it might be personal and such, but you're getting awesome art. Why not show it off! Awesome art is meant to be looked at and admired, not merely horded by some miser. Yes, the artist shows it off, but still. I feel it's always a shame to leave a good story untold, you know?
I like what you do, trying to craft stories to things. I do the same thing, even when it is something like "Draw me an action pose". Like the "Down in the Valley" picture I have, was 100% artistic freedom, and I still crafted a story around it to fit with my personality. In fact, the next picture I'm trying to upload, I haven't uploaded yet, because the right words haven't been flowing. Heh. But hopefully I get it posted before I head off to bed tonight.

Yeah, I don't get how most people use Twitter either. I get using it as a kind of announcement board to let people know things (like - "new art!") but... "I'm eating at Burger King for lunch". :-/
LOL @ the sparkly thing. I know exactly how you feel. I've talked with people before who were kind of shocked that I have "just a plain cheetah" character. Artists have tried to spice the character up, which I appreciate, with clothing articles (the bandana stuck) and fur patterns (jury is still out). But there won't be sparkles, wings, rainbow colors or anything like that! heh
I used to be one of those people! I would +FAV the artist original post and that was it. My account was totally empty because I basically just used it to log in and see art. But I pretty much got over the "it's ok to repost" thing, and now, yeah, I like reposting the art with some commentary. I'm not to the level of actually writing up a little story or anything, but at least my thoughts from when I commissioned the work or anything interesting that was discussed while the artist was drawing it. I agree it is a shame to leave the story untold.
The one I *really* don't get are the people who commission art and then don't want the artist to post it and they never post it themselves. That one I totally don't get.
Yeah, I really like stream commissions because it's a chance to watch the art being drawn and it's a huge inspiration for me to come up with a name, or have some influence over the piece itself. And even when the artist is sketching something out... I'll offer up my thoughts on what it looks like is going on and that can direct the piece in a certain direction. Like the Pepsi cans in the "picnic" image I have. We were trying to figure out what they were talking about and ... well, maybe't they are arguing about soda choices and the cheetah is joking around saying "Pepsi - the choice of a new generation?". It's good to make others in the stream laugh and enjoy the art, even if they aren't the commissioner (or the artist)!
I do the same - when I struggle to come up with names, I'll also give it some time until I can figure out something. I'm particularly proud of some of the names I've come up with, and hope others like them as well "Bill and Rashi have another go"
Good luck on coming up with that name - it will come to you eventually!
