Nothing is stopping you from doing detailed portraits regardless of being paid. You might as well do one a day on any subject matter, as it will only help you improve upon your quality of work (which is already quite astounding). Who knows, maybe you can make a sum off of selling prints of them anyway. Keep your options open. :)
As for this piece, the fur shading is quite wonderful. I do enjoy the attention you've given to lighting the subject. I don't think I see anything that's even wrong with it. Very well done, keep up the nice work.
