how much animal, how many animal traits does it take to create an anthropomorphised animal?
whatever, I found the photo reference in some flyer and thought it a nice motive and a dreamy mood. I guess everybody had those moments, arms stretched out, balancing, imagining one could fly over the landscape...
the scanner swallowed a couple finer shadings in the water before her and the sky. but nothing important. :)

Ooooooh, I like I like! =D Excellent job on anatomy and pose. Great job with the whole atmosphere of the pic, as well. The clothes look great, and that tail is nigh sexy! This almost looks professional, man. ;)
My only gripe is her hair. The right side seems to be angled slightly out of plumb; it looks to be angled in toward meeting the rest of her hair, but it's only just barely. The whole effect of the hair makes it look slightly like one big mass of fuzzy. It might help to add a few flyaway strands to add variety and interest.
BUT! That's just my humble opinion. Overall, this is excellent, mate!

thats awesome!! maybe she uses references. but when i see her do it.. she just does it.. she does have how you say a photographic memory though. kind of like me.
but she puts hers to very good use!! lol.
i'm glad you use references!! especially since your art comes out this well!!

ooh, photographic memory? look at a scene or picture and you can use it for reference for the rest of your life! XD
unfortunately I have references not for every one of my pictures abvailable, so many stuff gets created from scratch. I have neither the time nor the opportunity to dig through the internet for such all day.

a trade sounds like a plan!
as for critics, I make it a point to make constructive, useful critic in a serious, nice tone, so the receiving end will know I still like the critiqued piece and I look closer because of it.
of course, sometimes a critique would be pointless because it wouldn't matter, or there is nothing to critic anyway.
maybe the one you mentioned didn't know how to give critics right, or had a bad day?
or maybe was just an asshole. I am one myself sometimes, granted. ^^'

I can't lie. I saw this and started wallowing in nostalgia. Everyone's had this moment at one time in their life and I'm no different. ^ ^;
However, I do like how it's been accomplished here. The jeans happen to look like very realistic Levis due to how you illustrated the folds and creases. [And how Levis have their pockets off to the side where the side pocket and back pocket look like the same thing.] It's the same with the clothing as it looks like a shirt that everyone can wear in a day to day situation. [As opposed to the RPG like outfits people are giving their characters as if they're reeeeeally walk out the house with that stuff on. I mean, honestly now.]
Now, seriously speaking...I like how all this was done in a single colored pencil /medium here. It's like a monochrome piece, but rather than black and white, I believe everything is.. more along the lines of red. [But I'm taking that to be the resolution of my monitor. So if I'm wrong here, fair warning.] Because of that, you can see how realistic everything is due to the lack of opposing colors. Less is more after all. It's much like an old black and white photo to that degree.
Long and short is that this came out a very nice.. if nostalgic picture that forces me to think about way back when.
Shame on you. xP

nostalgia? XD now that's a new one. good to hear that I made you think a little deeper than usual. :)
I have no idea if it was a Levi's, but you may be right. the ref photo was a little bit out of focus.
RPG outfits? I have met people who are very close to wearing something like that all day, but I guess it depends on how you make a living.
besides, if I want to create a casual scenery a chainmail bikini does not really fit, now does it? ^^
as for the reddish hue, if you scan in pencil in colour you receive a hue of dark brown. this might be the reason for your perception; finished pencils like this look curiously lifeless to me in gray scales.
if shame is on me, beer's on you. XD
