Something I haven't mentioned before was that Canime's unknown species needs to eat humans every once in a while in order to live, be strong, and keeps her regenerative abilities in tact. And the reason, other than for comedy, that Pure gets eaten is because she has offered herself to her loved one so that she can continue to live. She also doesn't mind if Val and Ruri shares that burden too.
