My very first Godzilla toys were the Godzilla: King of the Monsters "Godzilla vs. Mothra" 2-pack. So I definitely used the 4-inch figure the most for a reference, especially for the wing patterns.

Here's where I ran into a bit of an issue with this ongoing project - Mothra never really got a recolor in the Trendmasters series. Well, neither did Rodan or Ghidorah, but I'll get to that later when we get to them.
I have a feeling a few feathers might get ruffled amongst the more hardcore Godzilla fans out there, but there are two reasons I picked the colors I went with:
1) I had to think "90's" for a bit on the colors. Just a zany contrast against the regular color scheme. Plus, if they went as far as, say, a lime green and purple Biollante, this doesn't stretch all that far. Not to mention I took advantage of being the artist. ;P
2) Looking at it from a narrative perspective, the alternate color schemes always seemed to have an irradiated/critical mass feel to them (or in the Mechas' cases, upgraded look), evidenced by the 40th Ann. repaint set's Supercharged Godzilla blatantly being Meltdown/Burning Godzilla. So the idea was to make Mothra look like she also got a taste of whatever irradiated the others - the green was meant to give off a toxic/radioactive feel, the blue an electric feel.
