More of my leatherwork- something more sophisticated this time, a leather helm.
The type is made of smaller pieces fitted together, and is called a "Spangenhelm".
Usually made of iron, this was a project for LARP gaming and I made it several years ago.
All pieces were wetformed, allowed to dry, then stitched together without rivets or glue.
I am thinking of making more fantasy styled pieces in future.

The spangenhelm style itself- a helm made of many small parts fastened together- is universal throughout history and many cultures.
The specific type here- a high crowned bowl - is generally western european in style.
(Found on norman, viking, anglo-saxon and other germanic tribes.)
The facial mask is something seen on viking and anglo-saxon styles I have seen reconstructed from grave finds and the like.
The nape or neck guard is not common, and the cheek flaps are generic and similar types can be found on everything from roman to norman designs.
Its a bit of a mix of styles, as i was trying more for a Rohanese look at the time to fit the Dagorhir society's Lord of the rings origin.
