i don't really feel comfortable -completely- ripping off someone else's style, so they have a bit of innovation in the borders, and are primarily my style when it comes to the characters themselves. seeing as i've never studied art nouveau specifically [class or otherwise], nor was informed that the whiplash curves were an important part of it, they've seemed to be left out of this current batch [though one or two of the ones currently being inked may have some]. but a lot of the border details, and the hair on some of the longer pieces, have inspiration from definite art nouveau sources.
the lurid badge's hair was influenced by this piece, http://www.artinthepicture.com/arti.....Mucha/job.jpeg
as well as the border edges on the top, by the same kind of borders on the top of this piece ashttp://www.artline.ro/admin/_files/photogallery/f_champenois.jpg also, some of the repeating curve designs on the corners of other badges, such as vii's, is taken from mucha: http://www.artwallpapers.net/painti.....grainfield.jpg
the fleur-de-lis shape seen snap's and kyell's, as well as the blockish border of kyell's, is highly simplified and taken from the job piece referenced above.
the typefonts for a lot of these were pulled either from googling nouveau fonts, which were themselves taken from certain nouveau pieces, or taking influence from mucha's work himself, such as the aiuta piece: http://www.scva.org.uk/collections/.....ject/65_lg.jpg using negative space for the lettering.
as for floral elements, it's hard to stick flowers in badges when the majority of the subjects are -male-, for which i tried to keep in an old-fashioned key. additionally, the borders on some of mucha's originals are highly complex and seem to be influenced by celtic knotwork at times, for which i have little to no experience, and don't feel it would be wise putting such detail on a small badge -- especially when trying to keep the detail level the same for all of these.
if you really want to get anal about it i suppose you could say it's merely art nouveau influenced. in all respects these are certainly more art nouveau-ish than my typical badges, with the fact that they have decorative borders, nouveau fonts, etc. going by memory and impression of what art nouveau is doesn't always bring about the exact definition of art nouveau, i suppose.

They are most definitely Art Nouveau-ish, with the borders and fonts and some degree of stylization (such as lurid's hair). However, I'm not sure what you mean by 'ripping off someone else's style', since Art Nouveau is and was a style practiced by many artists, even if it is best defined by the work of only a few.
I agree completely that adding too much detail to a small badge can just end up muddy and confusing. There seems to be a range of similarity to the style here, though... Lurid and Vii's badges do actually make me go 'oh, Art Nouveau-influenced!', but Kyell's, for example, while pretty and interesting, doesn't look like AN to me.
It's just a matter of opinion here, I think, but you can find out more about the hallmarks of the style by reading the Wikipedia article on it, if you like n.n
