My Grandmother is turning the big 80! If you've seen some of the other presents I've made for her in the past you may recall that she likes hummingbirds.

She still talks about how she has my paintings up in her living room. So I figured I'd make her something she can have with her whenever she wants. For this piece I painted the hummingbird and stargazer lilies on a thin triangular shaped stone. It was flat and pretty so I thought it would be perfect for jewelry. I sculpted on the leaves in order to attach a bail, so they are slightly embossed, and I painted them as well. Then I glazed the whole thing with a protective coating and strung it on a chain.
I think the leaves on here may have been subconsciously inspired by the wonderful works of ganjamira on DA
