I've got a nasty cold right now... and there's no better therapy than creating cool art, agreed? ^_^
Anyway, here is a new artwork for you!!
It's a "remake" of my oldest "Reptile" comic book (cover art). Here is the original version:
http://reptile-universum.de/reptile.....201/Cover1.jpg
And... I've tried to use the digital media in a more "painted" style... no hard cell shading but smooth gradients and edges. I'm pretty pleased with the result, because I've drawn it the same way I would draw a traditional artwork!
:3
Oh... and I'd like to note one thing: EVERYTHING is drawn by hand! No photos or filter crap this time!!
THIS is the best quality I am currently able to do with digital media.
MEDIA USED:
MEDION tablet and PHOTOSHOP 7.0.1
WORKING TIME:
7 hours in a row!
Artwork © 2014 Patrick Reichel aka
reptilecynrik
If you want, you can use it as desktop wallpaper... I certainly do!
NOTE:
"Schicksalskampf" is the German word for "Fight of Destiny" - my very first comic book.

It means "Fight of Destiny"... it's about my first comic issue, which was about how REPTILE met his friend XEVON and how REPTILE battled his nemesis DEVON! :D
So... it was his destiny to battle DEVON and to become and ally to XEVON.
Never mind, it was an old title.... XD

Indeed. :)
The majority fought the Reptilians. They didn't know better.

I'd say this came out rather nice. Have some nice contrast going and anatomy wise it's a good improvement over the original.
The coloring and shading is nice, even so far as making the metal look polished and shiny. ( tough the helmet's mane could have used a few outlines maybe but that's just nitpicking ).
Now given the way the helmet obscures the character's head, I am left wondering what expression he is making? Judging by the line of the mustache I can hazard a guess that he might be smiling? ( like an menacing grin? Though this is just speculating ).
Not much to complain about on the reptile. I like the way you did the horns. Very detailed and worn. Well if there's something that might be a bit off-putting maybe it's the area on his snought where the skull has a hole... I don't know what those areas are called, but you see them on dinosaur skulls. There's patches of bone missing creating holes in the skull presumably to make it lighter or something. Maybe I feel that space is just a little too big on your design? But I could be wrong. That's just the impression it gives me.
But anyways, all in all it's a very nice depiction and I love this idea of reworking an old drawing then putting them side by side to compare.
Well done and keep up the great work !

Hello, buddy!
Wooot, THANKS for large comment!!!! ^____^ I'm so happy you like it.
Yes, about the human's emotion... I admit, I didn't really pay THAT much attention there. BUT you are right... he has some kind of... sadistic smile/smirk on his face.
Something like "What do you want, you little worm?"
XD
The area at the side of his snout is a "hole in the skull" to make it lighter. It's not easy to draw or shade... but it's a trademark of Reptile, so.... ;)
I could make it smaller, though.
^__^
THANK YOU AGAIN!

THANK YOU AGAIN!
Well what can I say, if you know how to deal with traditional media, digital media wouldn´t be realldy difficult to pain it on ; )
The only thing I enjoy in this pic is all that shades you applied in both character, specially in Reptile, since we can see his skull all well defined than that man´s helmet XD
Now that´s what I call a good remake of an old work ^ ^ making us to wonder how would some other old works could you make a remake of it XD
This time I couldn´t made a long comment since I have a lot of work left to do ^ ^º But I do clap for this pic : )
Take good care man! ; )

That is a great web version of what I'm talking about.
What of your own images there do you have in a physical media form? That is, they were something that had to be scanned in.
The answer to that question makes for a good artist's portfolio to carry around and show people, especially any client that might be met in person, and particularly good when we'd be talking contractual or permanent employment. When appropriate, but even so... perhaps filtered into a "SFW" and not so safe category. And safe meaning not even slightly offensive, G-rated type material. Suitable for showing young children...
