Abandoned house, Cheydinhal
My hand is still shivering with excitement as I write this, and it's been two nights since I made the kill. This might have been the single funnest thing I've done since I got out of jail. Yes, even funner than that last job before I became head of the Thieves' Guild.
I was sent into the Imperial Prison to kill some prisoner or another, didn't know, didn't care. But to my surprise, I was going to be infiltrating the prison the same way I got out. It was rather thrilling to pass through that passage again, as instead of being practically defenseless and nude, this time I was a very accomplished and well-equipped thief and killer. It seemed a shame that the condition of my bonus was to leave the guards unmolested.
Then I approached the cell I had escaped from, and listened to a little conversation between some guard and an annoyingly familiar voice...I couldn't forget that voice, that tone, that attitude. Him. They sent me to kill HIM. I was so overjoyed that...well, I've barely slept these last two days. Once I was sure we were alone, I set most of my gear aside; I knew I wanted to not even be tempted to finish him off quick with a weapon. Then I sauntered through my old cell and up to his. He hadn't forgotten me either, which made it all the better, and asked if I would let him out. It was incredible, hearing him plead like that. And what did I say to him?
"The Night Mother says goodbye."
Have you ever seen the blood drain from a Dunmer's face? From fear, I mean? It's amazing.
Then it was fun time. I can't even begin to do justice to what I did with him in words, you just had to be there. Once I was satisfied, I told him that to thank him for making this one of the best nights of my life, I'd do something he'd wanted for a long time: Bring him out of jail. Sort of. It'd be that last bit of payback from me to him, my way of thanking him for the good time.
All this and no one even knew I was there until after I was gone. Like I said in the entries after I became head of the Thieves' Guild, it's simply been preordained by the Elder Scrolls themselves that I'm special and they're not.
For now, I need to calm down. I hear rumors that the Brotherhood has a job they think I'll love lined up for me once I work my way up through the ranks, and I want to enjoy this one properly too. I hear for this one, I get to kill not just one, but several people. Maybe it's time to get back to Cloud Ruler Temple to do some more work on that business.
But to wrap this up, I'm including another little affirmation of just how amazing I am. I picked this up on my way out of the Imperial City; I just had to hang around a bit to hear how word spread. If I'm going to drop a fat sack of food in front of the beggars and give them a simple job in exchange, I'm going to reap the rewards.

Special Edition: Over Our Heads and Under Our Noses
In these increasingly troubled times, we look for reassurance and safety, and we find that both are growing thin. Sometime last night, this was proven true again as a gruesome murder took place right here in the capital. By now, if you didn't see for yourself, you've more than likely heard from your fellow citizens or from the first witnesses, the beggars who ran through the streets yelling of the murder early this morning.
Hanging from the dragon statue in Talos Plaza was the freshly-severed head of the newly-infamous prisoner Valen Dreth.
While you may feel reassured that this crime was perpetrated on a prisoner, take a closer look at what this means. Someone was able to sneak into the Bastion, one of the most heavily guarded places in the city. During that time, locked doors and prison bars alike were broken into. Anyone who could accomplish such a feat in the Bastion could easily slip into our homes, and this criminal was interested not in stealing valuables, but in stealing a life.
Details are still thin at this time. There has been no claim of responsibility, nor has there been any formal accusation for the murder. As for what happened to the rest of the victim's body, the Legion has not commented, but a consistent rumor is that he is being scrubbed off the walls of his longtime cell.
Sometimes I wonder if I had too much fun with and did too much RPing as Grayface. Then I remember how fun the Thieves' Guild and Dark Brotherhood questlines are and think, oh yeah, no I didn't. And what was one of the very funnest parts of one of the funnest questlines? This quest. People say the Whodunit? quest is the best in the DB questline, but I found it second-best.
Grayface's attitude to this quest mirrors my own as I was playing, so in this case, she speaks a lot for me. Once I was done with this quest, I knew I would want to get that line memorialized, and again, Dash proved to be the man for the job.
