[FBA Story] Firestarter - Chapter 2 + 3 - (Jake Turner)
Hey folks - I've been working on a multi-chapter story for my 2014 FBA draft submission, Jake Turner, for about 16 months now.
Chapter 2 details our young fox at his first day in high school, and learning about the expectations your legacy carries with it.

I gotta say, and this is all entirely my own silly thoughts, but part of me doesn't like Jake. So much of what he is is happenstance. He happens to be freakish tall, have an affinity for the sport, be the son of a previous FBA legend...these are things he just got because he happened to be born. Yes, that also means there's a world of pressure on him to perform to those expectations. But here is where it gets interesting for me. Because all that stuff can only get you so far. The rest is up to him.
Nice story Wen! I look forward to reading more of Jake and how he develops.

Well... many people are born 'blessed' - we all know that individual who was born with a sliver spoon. In literature, they're often very hard to like and tell tell stories about. After all -who wants to hear a tale of a billionaire become a trillionaire?
Jake did win the genetic lottery exactly the same as so many pro-athletes do. But sometimes, being a legacy athlete, or legacy businessman or legacy anything, can be a curse. Especially if you are expected to inherit the family business...
Talk to me offline sometime and I can hit you over the head with the symbolism in this story... Perhaps the most obvious one has to do with Jake's shoe size :)
