So there's this guy right? He looks like THIS
dancingduke
He spent a few days in Phoenix with me and we did things. MUSIC things.
This is one of those things.
The fingerpicking took a ton of effort, and I still don't do it perfectly, but hey I think it sounds pretty alright.
If you couldn't tell, Duke is doing the melody (higher part) and I'm doing the harmony (lower part)
Wacha think?

Wow that dates me. This song, while overplayed as mentioned, was a song of my time of sorts. I was in my twenties, and feeling indestructable and grasping at theme for life this song was one of many that made me feel like it was all "just around the corner". Was stuggling with my self at being gay, but not totally there yet.. When this song came out it was great.
I saw them live when they opened for ZZ Top during their "Recycler tour".
With that said, ZZ Top pulls no punches in stage show.
It was around this same time I ran into Dave, the lead guitarist and keyboard jockey for a local music band that went by the name of "Blind Ambition". Dave was around 40 years old and the rest of the band was my age. I played in another band from there - names with held - because we had too many changeovers and names that mean little really... anyway.
He wrote a lot of their original music for the band he started out at when 14, who called themselves "Devil John".
Devil John was the name given to a local thief that preyed on those travelling thru the Pound Gap to or from Kentucky to Virginia, whos real title was Doctor John Wright, a thief Dr.... anyway...
Theres something to be said for old music that means something - the modern interpretations might vary wildly, but the fact it still evokes feeling is incredible.
I have a dusty cassette tape of some Devil John originals (one song was bought and copyrighted to Blind Ambition). The damn thing is older than prolly 3/4 of those on FA.
Its the last existing copy of the music. Im afraid to play it its so old. It might get one play as the oxide falls off the tape, but i fear its so old by now thats already done.
I need to rescue this for me if nothing else.

I've had someone try to explain that shoe to me after I said it sucked and his reaction was pretty similar to what you said. He couldn't really say why it was supposed to be "funny" just that I was out of touch and didn't "get it". LOL They just tried too hard to be weird, odd and outrageous. Forced funny doesn't work for me.
haha yeah I don't blame anyone who doesn't enjoy that show.
I like about... 1 out of every 5 sketches. They don't seem to care if what they do is funny, which is probably why I like it.
They want to do something... they do it... and sometimes it's funny. Hard for me to look away though.

This song is a classic but I prefer the ballads done by their peers. Extreme was not all that great with their songwriting...It's sung well but structurally the notes are repetitive, and even their faster, louder stuff just didn't jump out at me.
My favorite one to sing is "More Than Words" by Alias, though I also really like Firehouse's ballads "When I Look Into Your Eyes" and "Love Of A Lifetime".

I think their songwriting is fantastic in terms of chords. They had more going on than they really wanted to show.
They seemed to try really hard to make things.. "hip" and thus lowered their standards on lyrics and thematic content.
The CHORDS on the other hand are friggin sterling. Excellent voice leading. False cadences, and the borrowed Cm Chord. mmm
Not saying there aren't better ballads from this period though.

This song made my day nice; calming and relaxing to listen to. I think I am part of the minority here who does not know this song. I may have heard it at some point on the radio though, if it is that popular.
I'm usually a little paranoid watching videos with fursuiters, especially the more professional, quality-looking ones (various camera angles and transitions!?) since then it's harder to pull the "oh just a silly internet video that accidentally opened itself" excuse.
Awesome job both of you! :3
