Thanks for the feedback. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions. I may try to do something to make the pattern on the spear shaft of the other 2 more interesting, like perhaps a second diamond inside of each of the diamond patterns.
There is more info about the design for the weapon in one of my Journals.
All four of the drawings are of the same weapon, it is stretching/expanding from dagger size to spear size. The first two forms on the left (dagger/tanto and short sword/wakizashi) are the most traditional and the diamond hilt/shaft pattern looks the best on them. The third form is an uncommon weapon called a nagamaki-naoshi ( http://japaneseswordindex.com/polearms.htm ) and the fourth is a glaive/naginata.

I have some ideas about the diamond pattern but lets finish this version first. The hilt/pole is made of wood (underneath any covering or wrappings it might have) but I picture it as either a fine grained wood or lacquered so it doesn't need to have a wood like texture shown.
Thanks Kinta Nara, I like it.
The main idea I had was to try to make the pole of the right two more interesting (see above).
I can tell getting the blade to look the same in multiple drawings would be much easier in digital (where it could just be copied) than it is in a traditional freehand drawing like this. That's fine, it doesn't need to look exact.

Ok, let's go ahead and do the finished drawing of this design. (I can always work on more ideas for the pole/haft pattern later)
If it helps, I decided that the following picture is my favorite example for the blade shape, though it is a bit too long, Auric's should be about 5" shorter (this one is a 26" blade was originally a nagamaki that later had the tang cut down and was remounted with a sword grip to make a katana): http://www.swordforum.com/forums/at.....p;d=1040043566
Sorry it has taken me so long to get my ideas developed. I've definitely been the one who has been slow on this. Thanks for your patience with me.
