This is what the artist has so far http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13498247/
it's not a furry dog horse, though, its a zequine - which isn't actually part dog at all. it's a fantasy species based more on deer than a dog. make your own closed species if you want, they're fun!
they all have different markings and even features but I haven't made a lot yet or updated their info.
if you want to use that argument, again, rip off dreamies. but you wont go for a popular species, because you KNOW the shit you'll get for it.

If you make your own Zequnie/"furry dog horse" you are violating thegrandhighblood 's copyright which is a full on illegal thing to do
it doesnt matter how generic you may think it is, end of the day they are a copyrighted closed species that belong to thegrandhighblood
It's more the idea of the species itself. Yes it's a furry dog but that specific type of furry dog with that specific species name if made by that specific artist.
For example, I have a closed species of adoptables I sell from time to time: Кролик моря (literally translates to sea rabbit)
I have a rule set where nobody else can simply make their own Кролик моря when they please. I sell the adoptables and I also breed together ones that people have bought for their own cub versions, but they need to come to me for it rather than make them themselves.
Now does that mean that nobody on earth can create half rabbit half fish characters? Hell no. People have and will do so. But if I were to see my exact idea with the same name and somebody going 'i invented this', it becomes idea theft.
It would be akin to someone making a character that looked exactly like yours with the exact same name and calling it their own unique creation.
The copyright laws for digital art have a long way to go. It's almost impossible to determine intellectual ownership for something created online and they may never figure it out fully.
It's completely possible that someone out there somewhere created the idea for a russian sea rabbit based off of real world fish but with phosphorescent glands under the skin. It's also possible that they did it before me so it would look like I ripped them off. It's a big world out there and no idea is totally unique anymore.
But by selling adoptables from a 'closed' species, so long as there is no immediate knowledge of someone else with the same idea, it gives us a sense of control over our creations and ideas. Plus then people who buy these creatures get the sense that their purchase is unique and they are less likely to find a million of the same sort of creature owned by every random guy in the community.
If I were to pick up one of these 'Zequines', I could feel pretty sure that although I may find other fuzzy zebra dog characters out there, its not overly likely that the idea and name would be exactly the same.
Odds are, you won't get in trouble for making your own. There are no rules that say you can't copy someone's idea, or even sell said idea for profit. But at the end of it all, staying true to the closed species and not just mass producing them for yourself is, in a way, being respectful to the artist and their creative ideas. And really, respecting something that small and simple can make some great friends on here, as well as cutting down on a lot of potential drama! :)
