Monster Parents Best Parents
It's an adoptive relationship~
Adorable idea I kept thinking about since I watched Godzilla (2014) and rewatched Cloverfield. It has been stated by the creature designer of Clover that it is just a "baby" and throughout the film it is essentially showing a frightened, lost animal that may be looking for it's mother. Alternatively, the MUTOs in the film were urged by instinct to find each other, mate, and have little MUTO babies.
SPOILERS for those who haven't seen Godzilla yet: the MUTOS successfully laid their eggs but the main character destroyed them. Something momma MUTO was visually distressed about. /SPOILERS
So with both of these plots in my head I started thinking... wouldn't it be adorable if the MUTO couple took in scared little Clover baby as their own on their parenting quest? Obviously not likely in canon for seeeveral reasons but sssssh THE IDEA!
Probably last fan art of these guys for awhile. Maybe. We'll see.
